    Description

    Vacancy Intro

    About Haskoning:

At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together," drives us to create a positive impact on the world.

We offer purpose-driven and challenging work in diverse international projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society.

    About Haskoning Australia:

Based in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, Haskoning in Australia is an engineering consultancy providing independent strategic advisory, design, engineering, environmental, and project management services to companies around the country and in neighbouring regions – including New Zealand, SE Asia and the Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea.

    About First Marine International (FMI):

First Marine International (FMI) is the shipyard technology and maritime market research group within Haskoning; and the international leader in shipyard design, shipyard performance improvement and marine market research. We are a relatively small but growing team with offices in the UK (Falmouth, Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow), Australia, USA, Canada, Germany and India.

    What will you do

The overall purpose of the role is to provide project management support for consultancy services to FMI clients. The role will provide project and financial administrative support to the FMI project managers and team, as well as back up FMI Director's PA/Team Secretary and UK Project Management Team in their absence. Even though the FMI team is based around the world, FMI delivers as one team. Therefore, there is an expectation to provide support to Teams outside of Australia.

Ideally you will already have some shipyard and industrial experience that you will be able to readily adapt to the maritime consultancy environment. Previous experience within business development projects would help support the Senior and Principal Consultants winning work in the Indo Pacific Region. Depending on experience levels you will either start as a Jnr Project Manager or Project Manager and in time progress to project managing and undertaking projects, either alone or as part of an FMI team.

You will help represent the company in front of clients (initially with supervision) and will work towards being able to present a credible solution to clients' problems and questions with due regard to accuracy, objectivity, risk and liability.

    Job Role:

    • Support FMI Senior and Principal Consultants in the delivery of Projects
    • Support the FMI Director and the FMI Australian Office by providing analysis and data on business performance for management and development/strategic decisions.
    • Attend business management meetings as required.
    • Complete project risk logs and risk registers with project managers.
    • Support and maintain Project Cost Control including Earned Value Management (EVM)
    • Support the timely delivery of projects, tenders and business development projects
    • Maintain project management support functions
    • Monitor and report on resource utilisation.
    • Type, distribute and file correspondence, such as minutes of meetings, letters, and memos as required.
    • Contribute to development and improvement of FMI by sharing knowledge and experience.
    • Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.
    • Organising and coordination of travel and meetings
    • Prepare high-quality reports and presentations for internal and client-facing delivery.
    • Liaise with internal and external clients to provide project management solutions and share relevant information.
    • Support the preparation of proposals, budgets, and bids, contributing to business development activities
    • Collaborate proactively with Haskoning teams to support the growth of maritime business activities
    • Review and quality-check work in line with the company's Quality Management System.
    • Travel within Australia and internationally as required to support project delivery and client engagement.
    • Engage in continuous learning—both during work hours and personal time—to build the knowledge necessary to be an effective project manager
