    Arch Financial Holdings Australia Pty Ltd and its subsidiaries ("Arch LMI") are an APRA licensed provider of Lenders Mortgage Insurance ("LMI"). ALMI is a subsidiary of Arch Capital Group Ltd ("ACGL"); which is a S&P 500 global provider of insurance and reinsurance across a variety of product lines.

    The Actuarial Analyst is a key member of ALMI's Pricing and Analytics team undertaking actuarial analysis to assist in pricing and managing the business.

  • Performs technical pricing analysis for flow business and Structured products. Assesses the viability of proposed commercial rates.
  • Performs analysis and analytics of portfolio composition and performance to assist in managing the business.
  • Assists in the preparation of management reporting to the business.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of new models supported by specialist modelling teams and performs model runs for existing models.
  • Supports new client due diligence by undertaking analysis on the profile and quality of business being originated by lenders and modelling future performance.
  • Support the business in developing new LMI products by performing actuarial analysis on proposed products or deal structures.
  • Supports data governance by contributing to the maintenance of data quality and governance procedures.
  • Participates in ad-hoc project work as required.

  • Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Specialist skills in Actuarial pricing and analytical techniques.
  • Knowledge of APRA prudential standards applying to general insurers and LMI.
  • Understanding of Australian GAAP accounting for insurance and reinsurance.
  • Working knowledge of other regulatory capital standards and risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives.
  • Strong communication skills in written and verbal formats; ability to address broad range of audiences including senior management, external stakeholders and technical experts.
  • Focus on client and customer service.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and willingness/ ability to function as member of a multi-disciplined, international team.

  • Education and Experience:

  • Newly Qualified or progressing to qualification as a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of prior experience working in APRA regulated general insurance industries
  • Experience in LMI and/or banking would be highly regarded
