    Situated an hour south of Brisbane and an hour inland from the Gold Coast is the Scenic Rim Region. A thriving rural paradise and a popular tourist destination known for breathtaking scenery including six national parks, world heritage listed Gondwana Rainforests, local produce, wineries, art galleries and state of the art equine facilities. The region offers a high standard of services and facilities without the traffic.

    The Scenic Rim Regional Council covers an area of 425sq km, provides services to a population of more than 40,000 and employs over 470 people.

    The Position: The Development Assessment Planner will be responsible for assessing development applications and providing advice on town planning related matters.

    Skills / Experience Required: Council are seeking a highly motivated individual who has a clear desire to progress their career in Local Government, along with:

    • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia.
    • Ability to interpret the Planning Act and other relevant legislation and policies.
    • Well-developed research and analytical skills with the ability to formulate and evaluate solutions to planning issues.
    • Ability to learn new tasks / procedures and acquire knowledge quickly.
    • A positive growth mindset with the ability to effectively receive constructive feedback.
    • Confidence to be able to clearly communicate with a range of internal and external customers and stakeholders.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate town planner looking for their first role in the industry or junior planner looking to expand their skills and knowledge.
