Workday GL & Projects ConsultantLocation:
[Melbourne / Hybrid / Remote
Our client is seeking an experienced Workday GL & Projects Consultant to provide expert functional leadership across Workday Financials, with a strong focus on General Ledger, Projects, Project Billing, and Financial Reporting.
This is a high-impact role supporting Finance and Program Delivery teams to ensure Workday is optimised for accurate reporting, strong governance, and efficient end-to-end project accounting.
You will act as the functional SME across Workday Financials, partnering with Finance, PMO, Procurement, and Technology teams to enhance configuration, optimise processes, and deliver system improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide day-to-day functional expertise across GL, Projects, Customer Contracts, and Project Billing
Configure and maintain Financial Accounting Setup, Ledger Periods, Posting Rules, Project Worktags and Allocations
Lead GL and Projects configuration changes based on business requirements
Configure project costing, capitalisation, labour cost transfers, revenue recognition and billing
Troubleshoot incidents and coordinate defect resolution
Redesign and optimise financial workflows including journals, budgeting and lifecycle management
Develop and enhance Workday reports (Composite, Advanced, Matrix reports)
Ensure data integrity across GL, Projects and integrations
Support SIT, UAT, deployments and semi-annual Workday releases
Act as Workday SME during audits and compliance reviews
Deliver workshops, documentation, training and user adoption activities
You will bring:
Proven experience as a Workday Financials Consultant/Analyst
Strong hands-on configuration expertise in GL and Projects
Deep understanding of accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and project accounting
Advanced reporting experience using Workday Report Writer and Calculated Fields
Strong stakeholder engagement and documentation skills
Ability to bridge Finance and Technology teams
Highly regarded:
Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio exposure)
Workday Adaptive Planning or Prism Analytics
CPA / CA qualification
Experience in financial transformation or ERP rollouts
