    About the Role

    HIPPY Tutors are employed by the HIPPY Provider for two years to provide peer support and deliver HIPPY to families through practicing activities with them using Role Play. Every local HIPPY Program is coordinated and supervised by a HIPPY Program Coordinator, providing training and supervision to a team of Home Tutors who visit parents in their home as detailed in the HIPPY Manual.

    Based in Deception Bay, this position is being offered on a part time, 24-month fixed term contract, with 15 hours per week on offer. Days of work can be negotiated with the successful candidate.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop a supportive relationship with families to encourage new skills and confidence in the parents/carer.
    • Organise and attend home visits for assigned families (a minimum of one visit per fortnight during school term).
    • Role playing HIPPY activities during home visits and at parent groups to increase the parent's/carers confidence and familiarity in completing these activities with their own child.
    • Assist with the organisation and facilitation of Parent/Carer, Group Gatherings.
    • Encourage parents to maximise their participation in the program and their attendance at Parent/Care group meetings.
    • Meet with the Program Co-coordinator on a weekly basis for the purpose of role playing the next week's material; reporting on the progress of the HIPPY families assigned; and discussing any issues that have arisen during the previous week.
    • Engage in recruiting new families when required.

    Essential Requirements

    • Willing to work within the HIPPY program for a maximum of two years.
    • Must be currently enrolled into the HIPPY program, or be willing to enroll if successful.
    • Identify with the local community and demonstrate a commitment to working in the community.
    • Effective communication skills that will support program delivery.
    • Current Drivers Licence or willingness / ability to obtain a driver's licence
    • Complete program administrative tasks as required.
    • Participate in core training, professional supervision, and professional development.

    Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
