    TGen is the Northern Territory's trusted and respected energy services business and its largest wholesale electricity generator, owning and operating eight power stations.

    We reliably provide wholesale electricity and essential system services to support the Territory's major population centres using gas, diesel, solar and battery energy storage technologies.

    Our focus is to responsibly transition our fleet to advance the provision of sustainable energy solutions in support of the Northern Territory Government.

    Your New Role

    Territory Generation has commenced an exciting period of change to support the achievement of the NT Government objectives of 50% renewable by 2030 and zero net emissions by 2050.

    With initial capital investment underway in a new BESS and fast start gas turbine in Darwin, the transition of our business has begun and is now accelerating into implementation and further optimisation.

    The Commercial group in Territory generation is responsible for the following functional areas, of our power generation business:

    • Energy purchase and sale
    • New Business
    • Market participation, including bidding, nomination and energy product development

    As the Principal Analyst Commercial, you will provide high level professional economic and analytical services and commercial guidance regarding the commercial and strategic business activities of Territory Generation.

    Your accountabilities include:

    • Provide high level professional economic and analytical advice and services and commercial guidance regarding the commercial and strategic business activities of Territory Generation.
    • Manage the development, implementation and operation of performance modelling business systems including the implementation, maintenance and operation of demand and dispatch modelling tool, currently Plexos.
    • Support the development of strategic projects from business needs identification through to final investment decision, including technical and economic feasibility analysis, navigating internal and external approval processes, and procurement and contracting.
    • Provide high level professional advice on the development and management of energy solutions projects.
    • Contribute to the development of Territory Generation's strategic direction through the provision of key technical and economic inputs to inform Executive and Board decision-making.
    • Undertake technical and economic forecasting and reporting for the Northern Territory's regulated, and unregulated, power systems, primarily considering power generation and system services requirements in the context of Territory Generation's likely future role within these systems.
    • Manage the evaluation and development of proposals and pricing for commercial opportunities that align with Territory Generation's strategic direction as they arise.
    • Provide specialist professional advice on power systems and power generation technologies, including new and emerging technologies aimed at meeting customer demand and improving business outcomes for Territory Generation.
    • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline relevant to Power Generation.
    • Demonstrated ability to comprehend commercial and technical elements of generation and energy sector
    • Experience with implementation, and use of demand and energy dispatch modelling tools, preferably Plexos.
    • Proven ability to provide professional advice on the development of energy projects and products to deliver strategic business outcomes.
    • Well-developed commercial awareness and business acumen, with high level proven conceptual, analytical, risk management, planning and problem solving skills.
    • High level research and commercial analytical capability.
    • High level program and project management skills together with the ability to manage major projects and multi-faceted tasks involving other agencies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures to achieve change across the organisation.
    • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills together with high level ability to develop and implement educational, training, consultation, and awareness programs and public communication strategies.
    • Superior written communication skills including report, proposal and business case writing.
    • Relevant qualifications in project and/or contract management, finance or economics.
    • Knowledge of renewable energy, energy markets (incl. regulation) and related technologies

    This is an ongoing contract and requires Australian Citizenship/Permanent

    Residency or other eligible visa type to be able to work in Australia full time.

    This position is a residential role based in Darwin. Relocation assistance may be available.
