    Position Title: Staff Specialist – SVHS Emergency Department & Parklea Corrections Complex
    Employment Type: Temporary maximum up until 31/03/2026
    Hours per week: 0.125 FTE, 10hr on one day per week (participation in the On Call roster at Parklea Corrections Centre)
    Position Grade: Staff Specialist

    About the role:

    This position will suit a qualified Emergency Medicine Specialist who will work at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney (SVHS) Emergency Department and Parklea Corrections Complex on a weekly (one x 10-hour day per week) rotational basis.

    The position will cover 1-day per fortnight in the SVHS Emergency Department and 1-day per fortnight at the Parklea Corrections complex. Please refer to the attached position description for more details on this job.

    Selection Criteria:


    • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries;

    • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Emergency Medicine with extensive understanding and experience in the management of complex clinical and social issues;

    • Successful experience, or a willingness, in treating inmates of correctional facilities;

    • Possess, or be eligible to possess specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);

    • Possess Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent;

    • Demonstrated provision of a patient focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost effective clinical service with knowledge and commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation;

    • Demonstrated experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience;

    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels.
