Graduate Agronomist - Bundaberg - National Agri-Solutions

Description

This is an opportunity for an agronomist to work with a flourishing business in the Bundaberg region across their multi-site farming system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct soil, leaf and root sample collection and make recommendations based on results and knowledge
• Work with farm managers on improving crop production, tree health, controlling disease, pests and weeds, as well as nutrition improvements and management
• Maintain a recording system for nutrition and spray applications
• Prepare worksheets for chemical and nutrition applications
• Manage stock levels for upcoming chemical and fertiliser applications
• Conduct weekly monitoring of pest and disease in avocados and mangoes
• Research and implement new techniques and management systems for improving post-harvest quality, orchard health and yield
• Evaluate library trays and pack out data to maintain or improve fruit quality
• Collaborate with consultants to improve orchard productivity, tree health and fruit quality
• Stay updated on current research and aid in implementing new production techniques
• Write reports to support Agronomy Manager and other Managers
• Support farm staff with spray equipment calibrations

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in agronomy
• Proven knowledge and experience in avocados, macadamias, mangoes or citrus production
• Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills
