    The Role
    MCPSPO is seeking an EL 1 Product Manager to manage the CN61 Seaboats contract. Experienced and ambitious EL 1 or APS 6 member to step into the CN61 Seaboats team lead. Reporting to the Sustainment Director you will be accountable to plan, lead and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes.

    This role requires proficient knowledge of and a high level of expertise in sustainment, contract, product management, procurement, stakeholder engagement and finance. Within the role, you will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. You will be able to quickly foster effective stakeholder relationships internally and externally with peers, teams and colleagues. You will maintain team priorities, help to manage workflows and be able to succinctly provide feedback to Sustainment Director and SPO Director on any complexities, risk, issues and opportunities arising out of the Product Schedule.

    Your role will be performed under limited direction from the Director of Sustainment, and you will have a level of delegated authority to make decisions on behalf of the Branch and the Commonwealth.

    Using your knowledge of sustainment management and technical experience, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to work within the function. You will undertake complex problem solving and issues management and co-ordinate and complete detailed projects that affect strategic and operational outcomes for the Seaboat sustainment.

    About our Team
    The Maritime Cross-Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO), within Maritime Sustainment Division, Naval Ship Building & Sustainment Group (NSSG), located in Sydney CBD, is responsible for the provision of seaworthy materiel in support of the Australian Defence Force. The MCPSPO sustains complex military systems and equipment within its configuration baseline.

    The SPO relies on a large industry base, in-country and overseas, for supply support, engineering support, preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on-board HMAS Ships and at RAN Shore Establishments. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions, including Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering cells. The teams work in a complex, fast paced environment as part of a diverse and inclusive Branch environment that encompasses a variety of knowledge, skills and experience within a supportive hierarchy.

  • Leading a team and working with out-sourced resources in the development, approval and delivery of major sustainment products for the Department of Defence Maritime Sustainment Branch. You will be responsible for ensuring that your products are successfully delivered by achieving reporting, policy, schedule and budget outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working stakeholder relationships externally, with our industry partners, and internally with peers, teams and colleagues. This position has people management responsibility and as such, you will be required to exercise your people management skills and knowledge to lead a high performing and cohesive team.
