    The Role

    BG&E's Water team is responsible for providing technical advice for flood management and waterways design for engineering projects in the infrastructure and resources markets. Due to continued growth and the award of many exciting new projects, a permanent full-time opportunity exists in our Perth office.

    As an Associate Water Engineer at BG&E, you will report to the WA Regional Water Lead and be responsible for the technical leadership and design associated with flood management for major road, rail, mining, and land/urban development projects.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Technical delivery of hydrologic studies and hydraulic analysis associated with surface water management and flooding.
    • Flood modelling, mapping and report writing for a range of water and civil engineering projects.
    • Hydraulic design of waterway infrastructure such as bridges, culverts, levees, diversion drains etc including scour protection measures.
    • Design coordination with wider project teams and other disciplines.
    • Mentoring of junior engineers and detailed review of technical work by others.
    • Preparation of submissions for water related projects and input for multidisciplinary projects.
    • Monitoring and management of project budgets and deliverables.
    • Communicating with clients and other project stakeholders.

    About you

    You are a leader who has commercial acumen and technical knowledge to share with a passionate and driven local and national water team, able to demonstrate:

    • Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
    • 12+ years relevant experience.
    • Technical understanding of the principles and approaches of ARR2019 and relevant industry guidelines and legislation.
    • Practical experience in cross-drainage design, flood mitigation and management for major engineering projects in Australia.
    • Advanced understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling packages, such as RORB, XP-RAFTS, URBS, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and their advantages and limitations and will be capable of performing detailed design reviews. Experience using 12d and DRAINS will also be highly considered.
    • Existing relationships with relevant state authorities and stakeholders.
    • Strong project management and report writing skills.
    • Excellent inter-personal skills
