    About the role
    AEMO's Forecasting division is responsible for providing medium and long -term forecasts of Australia's energy supply and demand.

    The team is responsible for delivering critical forecasts that underpin many of our major reports, including AEMO's Electricity Statement of Opportunities, Gas Statement of Opportunities, and the Integrated System Plan.

    A new role within our team, the Senior Analyst will support the delivery of energy forecasts for key publications.

    This involves developing, advising, and effectively communicating medium to long term (1 to 30 year) energy forecasts, including distributed energy resources.

    You will draw together alternate perspectives and inputs and navigate a range of approaches to support forecasting model development. This role would ideally suit someone based in Melbourne or along the Eastern Seaboard.

    What you will be doing Plan, organise and collaborate with stakeholders and other forecasting teams on consumption and demand forecasts, including distributed and consumer energy resources, and multi-sector modellingWork within a highly skilled team to integrate strategic considerations of technology and its development, economic theory, and behavioural economics Research, organise and analyse relevant data to support the development and testing of energy forecasting models Effectively communicate approaches, results and key messages to internal and external stakeholders in written reports and through active participation in working groups and stakeholder forums Contribute to key energy industry publications, for all markets in Australia that AEMO oversees What you will bring to the role Experience within the electricity sector, perhaps obtained in an energy network or similar, with an understanding of the practical implications of consumer energy resources such as rooftop PVs, batteries and electric vehicles Ability to work effectively across teams, by developing and presenting effective material, and leading discussion to solve complex questions Sophisticated understanding of energy consumers in the Australian context, and insights as to future developments Data analysis experience, using tools such as SQL and Excel Interest, and ideally experience, in designing and coding statistical models and creating visualizations to answer varied operational, strategic and regulatory questions.
