The Opportunity
Downer's Energy & Utilities- Water Services team is seeking an experienced
(Senior) Procurement Advisor
to support the Queensland Water Program and related projects. Reporting to the
Regional Procurement Manager
, this role plays a key part in coordinating procurement activities, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, and ensuring compliance with Downer's frameworks, standards and governance.
You will work closely with commercial, legal, project delivery and regional procurement hub teams to deliver efficient, compliant and commercially strong procurement outcomes. As a trusted advisor across the program, you'll also mentor project teams, enhance their commercial capability, and help shape consistent and high-performing procurement practices across multiple workstreams.
This position is crucial to the successful delivery of essential water infrastructure programs across Queensland, providing meaningful impact and contributing to long-term regional outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Lead procurement activities for key projects within the Queensland Water Program, ensuring full compliance with Downer and client frameworks.
- Develop sourcing strategies, prepare RFQs, negotiate subcontractor/supplier agreements and manage commercial risks.
- Build strong networks with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality, competitive inputs and reliable market intelligence.
- Provide commercial support to Project Managers and Contract Managers, including cost control, reporting and contract reviews.
- Mentor program teams to build commercial and procurement capability across the program.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a commercially minded procurement professional who thrives in complex project environments and enjoys building strong relationships.
You will bring:
- 7+ years' experience in procurement, strategy or commercial management within construction, utilities, or similar industries (Tier 1 desirable).
- Strong supplier and subcontractor networks, with proven negotiation and contract execution experience.
- Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Commercial, Contract Management, Finance or similar (CIPS desirable).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop capability within project teams.
