    How will I help?

    The CTO function within the COO office in Westpac plays an important role in ensuring that the solution architecture aligns with the roadmaps established within the enterprise architecture, and that it adheres to endorsed architecture principles and patterns.

    The Principal Architect role within the CTO strategy & architecture function is responsible for:

    • Providing technical leadership for projects relating to data platform solutions, information management and projects with a high amount of data related capabilities to be architected.
    • Consult on and develop solution architecture solution built on data platforms and the architecture of the data platform itself.
    • Build reference architectures for data platform capabilities.
    • Architect & design modern data platforms, data streams and data service API's.
    • Champion the transition from a monolithic batch-based data architecture towards a domain-centric and micro-services-based architecture.
    • Provide expert technology advice and guidance to General Managers and Business Unit/GroupTech Group Executive within a portfolio/domain to assist the business in the formulation of business strategy and technology investment decisions.
    • Provide leadership vision to team on Enterprise Architecture strategy, creating clear line of sight and accountability, maximising employee performance and engagement.

    What do I need?

    • Extensive architecture experience in IT Industry/financial services or business consulting/strategic planning.
    • Experience across multiple architecture domains, including the implementation of architecture in large organisations required to ensure balanced solutions.
    • Knowledge and experience of Financial Crime Domain capabilities, such as AML, Sanctions, Transaction Monitoring.
    • Proven results in delivering major business solutions into production within multiple project teams.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the following architectural paradigms; micro-services, domain and event driven architectures.
    • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture disciplines and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
    • Exposure of Data Ops (DevOps) on native cloud data platform (PaaS services) and or containerisation over either Azure or AWS.
    • Strong skills in communication with Senior stakeholders in all roles both inside and outside technology teams.
