    Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Drainage Engineer for a temporary contract assignment.

    As a Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering advice, information and assistance to residents, consultants, developers and builders in relation to stormwater drainage management, flooding issues.

    The role will liaise, assist and provide information or technical reports to Council departments, service authorities and government agencies regarding engineering related enquiries through investigation, design and feasibility studies for engineering works.

    This will be an initial part time 3-week temporary contract assignment which could potentially be extended.

    Duties Will Include But Not Limited ToProvide technical drainage and development advice and assess applications for legal points of discharge and build over easements.

    Check drainage plans for developments including pump systems and on-site detention systems
    Produce concept designs, and specifications for capital works projects and prepare estimates and schedules as required
    Prepare relevant reports, correspondence, preliminary plans, cost estimates and apportionment of costs for each property involved in a special charge scheme
    Prepare project briefs to appoint consultants to carry out design or feasibility study work for engineering projects

    Undertake site inspections/investigations including drainage catchment studies in response to issues concerning storm water drainage, flooding or future development and prepare reports with recommended actions/effective solutionRequirements include:A degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.

    Experience with the use of GIS, Auto CAD and Microsoft Office software.
    Proven ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
    Experience in drainage and subdivision plan checking.
    Adept knowledge of civil, traffic and drainage engineering practices.
    A solid understanding of local government policies, procedures, and legislation.
    Experience working within Victorian Local Government in a relevant field.
    Strong customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
    Skills in managing time, setting priorities and planning and organising own work.
    Ability to respond to changing priorities and able to complete tasks within tight timeframes.
    A current Victorian drivers license.
