    As a Senior Network Engineer within our IT infrastructure team, you will play a pivotal role in managing network solutions to ensure the integrity and performance of our IT infrastructure. While your responsibilities extend to cybersecurity aspects and public cloud, your primary focus will be on networking, collaborating with stakeholders to optimise network functionality and security.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the configuration, and maintenance of robust firewall solutions, including Palo Alto Networks products, to fortify our network perimeter.
    • Evaluate and recommend optimal firewall technologies tailored to our network requirements and growth plans.

    Wireless Network Optimisation

    • Work with our MSP vendor to maintain secure wireless networks (Cisco Meraki), overseeing access point configurations and encryption standards.
    • Conduct thorough wireless network assessments, addressing vulnerabilities and enhancing network resilience.

    Policy Development and Compliance

    • Develop and enforce network security policies and protocols in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor network traffic, access controls, and intrusion detection systems to ensure compliance and pre-empt potential threats.

    Incident Response and Risk Mitigation

    • Spearhead incident response efforts, swiftly addressing security breaches and implementing remedial actions.
    • Stay abreast of emerging threats and vulnerabilities, implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks.

    Network Performance Enhancement

    • Continuously assess and optimise network configurations to enhance performance and resilience.
    • Conduct regular network security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans.

    Training and Collaboration

    • Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams on network security best practices and procedures.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed security principles throughout the organisation's network infrastructure.

    Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain meticulous documentation of network configurations, security policies, and incident reports.
    • Deliver comprehensive reports to management, providing insights into network security posture and areas for improvement.

    Cloud Network Management

    • Collaborate with our cloud SME to configure and manage AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), PrivateLink, AWS WAF, NACLs and security groups to establish secure and scalable network environments and seamless integration with on-premises networks.
    • Monitor AWS network traffic and logs using AWS-native tools or third-party solutions, proactively detecting and responding to security incidents and anomalies.
    • Stay abreast of AWS networking and security updates, best practices, and emerging technologies, providing recommendations for continuous improvement and optimisation.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
    • Extensive experience (7 years) in network engineering roles with a strong focus on cybersecurity.
    • Professional certifications in networking and security.
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and switching and routing protocols.
    • Hands-on experience with firewall technologies (Palo Alto Networks), Wi-Fi infrastructure (Cisco Meraki).
    • Familiarity with intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and SIEM solutions.
    • Proficiency in AWS networking services and management tools, with experience in deploying and managing cloud-based infrastructures.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and adeptness in working under pressure.
    • Experience using Infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform) to configure and deploy infrastructure resources.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail and security standards adherence.
