    The Northern Territory Correctional Services (NTCS) plays an important role in keeping our communities safe by helping break the cycle of crime, reduce reoffending and improve the lives of offenders through education, training and employment opportunities.

    As the Manager of the Offender Services and Programs unit in Alice Springs Correctional Centre, your primary objective is to manage, supervise and oversee the day-to-day work of a team of clinicians and program facilitators engaged in the provision of specialised assessments, individual interventions and group programs to address the offending behaviours of prisoners.

    Your key duties will comprise of; managing, supervising and supporting a team of clinically skilled and experienced clinicians and program facilitators engaged with prisoners to address offending behaviours and conducting and oversight the provision of clinical assessments utilising psychometric instruments. In addition you will contribute to the development of operational guidelines pertinent to the assessment, intervention, program delivery, record keeping and report writing tasks of relevant staff; and ensure standards of practice, knowledge and professional conduct are maintained; liaise with relevant parties on matters pertaining to the assessment of risk, treatment of offending behaviour, prisoner management regimes and treatment outcomes to ensure appropriate standards of community safety are achieved and maintained.

    To be successful you require tertiary qualifications in psychology with unconditional registration to practice as a psychologist or tertiary qualifications in social work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; demonstrated experience in providing effective leadership and supervision within a multi-disciplinary team setting; demonstrated understanding of contemporary theory and best practice with respect to offender programs within a custodial or forensic setting. The ability to manage staff, support team building and interact effectively with people from diverse cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential.
