    Description

    FIELD COMMUNICATION TECHNICIAN

    The Field Communication Technician is responsible for the site installations and coordination of field technical testing, co-ordinating project with various contractors, Project Managers and Project Engineers, ensuring test equipment is calibrated prior to site mobilisation and available when required, ensuring quality requirements are met and managing the general cleanliness, readiness of the construction site for commissioning activities.

    The role will be primarily based in Roma, QLD Region, but will require some travel associated with various project work scopes around Australia.

    The ideal candidate will be a team player, having strong customer service and communications skills, sound knowledge of, and an extensive experience working with, radio frequency equipment / technologies, experience working with a range of different environments and enjoy the experience of meeting and working with a wide cross-section of the community.
    The role will provide an opportunity to showcase your expertise and technical knowledge, to provide advice and solve difficult challenges.
    About You:
    Essential

    • A Diploma in Telecommunication or Telecommunication / Electrical trade from a recognized institution or similar;
    • Experience working on a regular basis as a member of a project team
    • Practical experience (across one or more of: design, planning, configuration, testing and maintenance) of a range of technologies (EG: SDH, PDH, UHF/VHF, Tetra, optical fiber, Ethernet and DWDM)
    • Previous experience within similar fields of expertise
    • Experienced in using hand or powered tools
    • Experienced with windows-based software, including Word and Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
    • Experienced with Terminal / GUI access into Systems and Devices to configure or review logs
    • Experienced in computer networking. (EG: Ethernet, TCP/IP, Firewalls)
    • Effective Time management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work in remote locations, working on various rosters as per project scopes
    • Drive and growth mindset, willing to take on more responsibilities with more experience

    Desirable

    • Project Management experience
    • Ability to Work from Height as required.
    • Ability to terminate various RF, Power ELV, Ethernet and Optical cables
    • Ability to understand High level design drawings
    • Restricted Electrical Licence
    • ACMA Cabling Licence, with endorsements (Open)
    • Drivers Licence (manual)

    Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by manager / supervisor from time to time
    • Contribute to the achievement of our client's strategy through participation in special initiatives and programs
    • Build the skills and capabilities of self and any direct reports
    • Organise, Plan and Prepare the Project related materials for site integration activities
    • Develop, document and enforce effective integration processes
    • Develop, design and fabricate where applicable installation improvements
    • Oversee the work done by the technical teams on various projects
    • Provide on-site support for engineers to troubleshoot
    • Ability to conduct Site Acceptance Testing
    • Managing test equipment calibration, storage and use
    • Preparation, review and management of integration documentation associated with each project
    • Ensure jobs are completed in a timely manner
    • Complete installation and commissioning paperwork, which varies from each Project
    • Submit purchase orders requests;
    • Notify the manager of any key developments and potential issues that may arise
    • Install and fit equipment
    • Observe, test, and monitor equipment functioning.
