Graduate Water Engineer

RPS has a fantastic opportunity for a graduate engineer to join our well-respected, specialist Water Engineering team on a full-time basis.

You will assist in delivering projects and technical advice to internal and external stakeholders and be exposed to a variety of water engineering applications in the mine water management context including:

• Hydraulic modelling, dewatering engineering solutions, pumping and piping design;
• Complex mine dewatering schemes, networks and infrastructure;
• Civil, earthworks, concrete design;
• Optimisation strategies.

What you'll be doing:

• Assist in project scoping, site investigation and option studies;
• Assist to collect, compile, present and evaluate technical and field data;
• Assist in providing engineering solutions during all stages of the project;
• Undertake engineering modelling and design, efficiently performing technical tasks;
• Assist to produce and manage design drawings and other documents;
• Assist to undertake Safety in Design and present design outcomes;
• Assist in project documentation, project management and billing.

Qualifications and skills

To be successful you'll need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

• BE/MSc Engineering (Mechanical or Civil background is preferred);
• Desire and drive to work towards chartered engineering status;
• Work experience or demonstrated interest in developing a career as Water Resources Engineer with strong focus on the Mining & Resources Industry;
• Strong aptitude & eagerness to develop hydraulics and pump & piping detail design skills such as hydraulic modelling, equipment sizing, surge analysis, pump station design, pumping system operation control and instrumentation;
• Strong aptitude & eagerness to develop civil detail design skills such as earth and concrete bunds, bulk earthworks, concrete, diversion channels, road and floodway;
• A team player and ability to work within project team to deliver design;
• Ability to work under pressure meeting project tight deadlines;
• Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills;
• Exceptional work ethics, "can do" attitude, and eagerness to learn many different aspects of water management design;
• Confident and flexible attitude to office and field-based work assignments; ability to work on and manage small to medium projects.
