    Our team sits within the Student Success portfolio and is responsible for developing and delivering programs and services to support students from equity backgrounds to have a successful transition into university.

    Your new role

    Are you interested in making an impact? Curtin's First Year Experience team have a rewarding role on offer that will involve high levels of engagement with first year university students.

    This role will work closely with students from equity backgrounds (as defined in Curtin's Student Equity and Inclusion Framework) to improve retention, progression and career development outcomes through the provision of practical support interventions.

    You will be part of a dynamic team within the Student Success portfolio and will have the opportunity to work on exciting initiatives in collaboration with other student engagement/support professionals across the university.

    This student facing role is broad ranging in scope, requiring agility and the ability to lead a range of diverse activities, programs and competing priorities.

    As our team is expanding, we have multiple full time, fixed term roles available with an initial contract end date of 24 December 2024 (with possibility of extension)

    Key responsibilities include:
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and understanding of the issues that impact students from equity backgrounds, especially in an educational setting.
  • A degree with relevant experience or a combination of relevant education and training.
  • An understanding of student access, support and retention strategies, especially during the transition phase into university.
  • Experience in development of engaging content and/or delivery of support services (, well-being/career support, presentations and events).
  • The ability to provide one-on-one advice to students who require support.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional staff to improve retention outcomes.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to analyse data and learn how to use student management systems.
  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
