    Description

    We are currently seekingfor a HSE Advisorfor a company that offers Earthworks, maintenance, Cleaning Services and Waste Management Services based at their site in Porthedland.

    • Temporary 3 month Position (potential to be extended)
    • ASAP start
    • Looking for a Port Headland based resident for this position
    • 4/3 roster
    • 11.5 hour days

    The purpose of this role is to contribute to the development and implementation of the company's safety management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop the site specific safety management plan and when approved, upload to the Ngoorda portal, share with the Project Team and relevant stakeholders
    • Work with the Project Management team to participate in a CRAW for the project
    • Develop a Project Activity Planner which shall include all inspections, audits and testing/maintenance schedules to be completed including their frequency
    • Ensure first aid equipment is available in all relevant areas and are appropriate to the size and number of people in the work area and are appropriate to the operations and environment
    • Ensure signposting of first aid is completed
    • Develop a Cyclone Management Plan - working with the client to incorporate site/client specific requirements
    • Cyclone preparedness kit. Coordinate this compilation of this and have it on site ready to access. Signpost where this kit is located
    • Work with the Plant Manager to ensure communications, PPE, Guarding and SOP's are available for the plant and equipment on site
    • Conduct a lighting survey on the workplace. This includes, offices, crib, mobile equipment etc.
    • Conduct ergonomic and workplace design audits to ensure workspaces are designed with the person who will use them in mind
    • Ensure all electrical equipment is inspected, tested and tagged prior to use. Key all electrical items into an Electrical Register and their inspection / testing frequency in the Project Activity Planner
    • Identify, clearly mark and communicate designated smoking areas. Ensure these areas are signposted
    • Ensure all storage racks, shelves and areas are fit for purpose. Ensure the SWL is clearly marked and surrounding hazards are identified and controlled
    • Develop a Chemical Register, conduct chemical Risk Assessments and ensure all are labelled and stored correctly
    • Champion the Risk Assessment process
    • Coordinate and develop material for a Weekly Safety / Toolbox Meeting
    • Cover critical risks as determined in the CRAW, key learnings, significant incidents and any updates in legal requirements in this meeting
    • Upload the minutes of all meetings, safety shares and notices to Sharepoint and to the safety section of Ngoorda
    • Manage the VOC's of all Operators on site, this includes any staff who will perform medium (or greater) risk work i.e. change a tyre
    • Upload VOC's into Rapid Induct and email to the People Administrator for record keeping
    • Manage and monitor the Projects Training Requirements in Rapid Induct. Ensure all qualifications, licenses etc. are up to date
    • Support the Supervisors and the Incident Investigation team in performing quality incident investigations, Coach and train where required
    • Conduct Health Risk Assessments and Plant Risk Assessments
    • Support Supervisors / Project Managers in coordinating the election of a HSR representative & a WHS committee if required
    • Monitor of hazardous substances and dangerous goods that come to site. Ensure a SDS is available for them, enter them into the WHS Risk Register and Chemical Register where required. Ensure labelling and adequate controls are in place
    • Ensure new starters / visitors are adequately informed of the emergency response requirements of the site; i.e. muster point, radio access, first aid locations, fire equipment etc.
    • Conduct lighting surveys every 5 years OR as alterations are made to the workplace and mobile equipment
    • Manage all injuries and illness, working closely with the People, Safety and Compliance Manager, Supervisor, IP, Project Manager and the client. Coordinate the return to work of staff members after accidents or injuries and make sure they experience a satisfactory return to work process
    • Daily site walks, inspections and observations. Speak to workers and get them to explain what they are doing. Identify gaps and or improvement opportunities


    Requirements for the role:

    • Minimum 5 years experience as a WHS Advisor
    • Minimum Cert IV Workplace Health and Safety
    • Proven ability of supporting the implementation of Health & Safety Management Systems on a project site in mining and or construction
    • Experience with implementing risk management protocols
    • Competent understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
    • ICAM Investigation experience
    • Lead Auditor Qualification - Desirable
    • Cert IV Training and Assessment
    • 4WD Training
    • First Attack Fire Fighting (or equivalent)
    • White Card
