    Job Title: Lead Primary HV Engineer for Substations

    Role Summary

    You will be an integral part of a team of highly skilled specialists turning engineering concepts to real infrastructure facilities for our clients. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, working on a wide variety of projects, based in Sydney, for our power transmission lines and substations design group, to execute challenging projects across Australia.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Lead and deliver from concept to detailed Design of HV substation primary systems up to preferably 500kV.
    2. Preparation and review of design reports and power system calculations.
    3. Site visits, assessment surveys, etc., as required.
    4. Define the scope of work for our clients.
    5. Primary systems design, produce SLDs, HV substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and short circuit force calculations, etc.
    6. Develop specifications for procurement packages.
    7. Lead and manage design & safety in design workshops with clients.
    8. Attend/witness Type tests and FATs for major HV equipment.
    9. Understand the critical technical aspects of projects, implementation, and integration for complex systems.
    10. Assist in the preparation of budget estimates.
    11. Ability to manage parts of larger projects independently.
    12. Interface directly with other interdisciplinary engineers/ clients/ suppliers on projects.
    13. Lead & manage a team of engineers & designers as team leader and mentor.
    14. Apply your skills of electrical engineering experience to a range of different projects.
    15. Act as Reviewer or Approver of Engineering reports, design/drawings etc.
    16. If required, act as Independent Reviewer of other HV Substation projects.

    Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities

    1. Relevant experience in HV substation designs at transmission voltage levels.
    2. Conversant with the transmission and distribution industry, standards, and codes in Australia and/or design experience with electrical utilities in Australia.
    3. Skilled/ or able to learn software packages e.g. ETAP, CYMCAP, CDEGS, DigSILENT, or like is considered advantageous.
    4. Site support experience/ experience in HV Substations projects being constructed and/or commissioned.
    5. University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (Masters preferred).
    6. Chartership desired.

    Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
