Environmental Planning & Approvals Officer

Regional Group Australia have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Planning and Approvals Officer to join our growing team in Victoria.

Reporting directly to the General Manager Planning and Projects, the key responsibilities of this role include:

• Undertaking development & environmental assessment processes relevant to various developments in the interests of MGH.
• Providing advice to clients and stakeholders in the interpretation of relevant development, environmental and planning policies
• Liaising with and providing professional advice to stakeholders on development assessment matters and project timelines.
• Engaging with and management of consultants and stakeholders to assist in the provision of advice on technical matters as they relate to RGA projects in a manner that aims to achieve the desired business outcomes.
• Design development, documentation, management of projects and their associated delivery as required by RGA business partners in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate record keeping and regular updating of project tracking and information systems.
• Contributing to process improvements for the overall development program.
• Assisting the RGA team with development and environmental assessment matters.
• Updating and monitoring the delivery of various development project programs, including but not limited to concept, design, construction and operational programs to ensure business unit targets and time frames are achieved.

Knowledge and experience required:

• Qualifications and/or experience in Planning related fields particularly environmental studies & project management.
• Ability to understand broad commercial realities of business operation.
• Experience in environmental planning assessment and demonstrated ability to assess and analyse complex planning matters and determine solutions in an effective and timely way.
• Ability to negotiate outcomes on applications with considerations to the applicant needs, community needs, and consistent with the relevant regulations and legislation.
• Knowledge of relevant Victorian Development Acts & Regulations and other related legislation in NSW, QLD & SA.
• Demonstrated ability to apply environmental and urban design principles to development within its context and an understanding of development terminology.
• Ability to manage, align and lead a team of stakeholders, consultants and professional staff.
• Ability to prioritise and be flexible when responding to changing priorities and demands.

The Environmental Planning and Approvals Officer is a permanent, full-time position - location flexible across Victoria, with regular intrastate travel required.
