    We are seeking Project Engineers to play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing engineering activities within Project CopperString, with a primary emphasis on construction of transmission lines or substations within designated areas.

    We currently have the following opportunities:

    • Project Engineer - Civil; overseeing and executing Civil Engineering and monitoring construction activities within the CopperString Project
    • Project Engineer - Electrical; overseeing and executing Electrical Engineering and monitoring construction activities within the CopperString

    In these roles, you will apply your advanced engineering knowledge to ensure timely project delivery, adherence to budget constraints, and strict compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.

    And you'll do it with down-to-earth people who you're proud to work with and get to know. Here's how:

    • Work collaboratively with engineering team to contribute to the development of project plans, scope and design specifications.
    • Offer technical expertise to project teams, contractors and stakeholders to resolve engineering challenges and issues.
    • Assist in the execution of project activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and strict compliance with industry and safety protocols.
    • Identify potential technical risks and challenges that could impact the success of Project CopperString.
    • Collaborate closely with Team leader and stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies.
    • Frequent travel to site and/ or regional locations is a requirement for the role, with short periods working away from home.

    What is the CopperString Project?

    CopperString 2032 is the largest ever economic development project in North Queensland, and one of the largest expansions to the power grid in Australia.

    The CopperString project will build 840 kilometres of transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa with the highest voltage levels in the state.

    Powerlink has established a fit for purpose, high performing project delivery team in our Bowen Hills office where you will join a team of like-minded professional in delivering one of our critical major projects. This project will further unlock the renewable energy potential of this region.

    Your expertise

    What you'll bring

    • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical engineering.
    • Demonstrated previous experience in engineering, project management or other relevant technical roles, preferably within the energy, infrastructure or transmission sectors.

    We'd also love you to have:

    • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
    • Proven experience, functional expertise and operational understanding across project related engineering fields; overhead transmission line high voltage electrical engineering, high voltage transmission line civil / structural engineering and high voltage substation civil / structural engineering.
    • Ability to lead and participate in technical and asset investigation, addressing highly complex investigations, addressing highly complex problems with no precedents requiring in depth analysis and cost-effective solutions.
    • Demonstrated experience in quality and inspection test plan development.
