    Your Opportunity:


    This is an exciting opportunity to support the implementation of Council's Economic Development Strategy aimed at delivering positive economic development outcomes for Council and the Cairns community more broadly.

    As the Economic Development Officer, you will be responsible for supporting a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the economic development initiatives of Council are undertaken collaboratively to maximise efficiencies and effectiveness and minimise duplication wherever possible.


    The ideal candidate has:
    Tertiary qualifications in economics, business, and/or related field; or extensive experience in a similar role.

    Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in delivering economic development and event programs and activities, preferably at the local or state government level.

    Demonstrated experience in developing, organising and facilitating community and business engagement and / or education activities.
    Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritise and operate in a fast-paced environment.

    Proven written and verbal communication skills and a strong client service focus with an ability to relate to other staff and members of the public.
