    About the role

    The Management Accountant position is responsible for facilitating the management accounting functions for Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) to support the provision of quality healthcare services under the Hospital's overall operational plan.

    The role will provide budget management and business planning, as well as support the Financial Controller in providing management accounting and support services for the Hospital.

    Your main duties will include:
    • Present and ensure the management reports are an accurate representation of the financial result of Calvary Mater Newcastle.
    • Provide advice and mentor the Assistant Management Accountant to enhance capability in line with professional development goals.
    • Responsible for the annual budget in collaboration with the Financial Controller and preparation of monthly budgets, forecasts and cash flow functions.
    About you:
    • A formal accounting qualification in the form of a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) at a recognised tertiary education institution. Membership of a professional accounting group.
    • Detailed understanding of accounting theory including performance reporting and budget and forecast development with understanding of the principles around budget maintenance and reporting results against an agreed budget.
    • Proven ability to build, develop and sustain positive partnerships and productive working relationships with all levels of staff both internal and external.
    • Experience in advising on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions by interpretation and creation of financial and performance reporting.
    • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, as well as the ability to use the tools within Microsoft Excel to import and massage large volumes of transactions in a format that will assist analysing financial results.
    • Experience with computerised information systems, including financial and payroll in a large organisation.
    • Demonstrated strong problem-solving ability, being able to identify and resolve issues to strict deadlines to meet stakeholders' expectations.
