    What You Will Be Doing

    As the Emergency Department (ED) Mental Health/AOD Coordinator you will provide clinical leadership, and holistic, patient centered care from admission through to discharge from the ED and within the Outreach Service. Responsibilities will include:


    • Assessing, planning and implementing care for patients

    • Conducting mental health and AOD assessments in order to determine the appropriate pathway

    • Monitoring patient flow and organizing resources accordingly

    • Provide clinical leadership to Emergency Department staff

    • Be the initial point for clinical escalation for mental health staff and outreach staff

    • Provide support and guidance to the outreach stream of the team

    • Shared responsibility for recruitment, rostering, performance management, team development and day-to-day allocations and coordination of clinical service delivery.

    What You Need

    We anticipate you will have:

    • AHPRA registrations as a Registered Nurse

    • Post graduate qualifications in Mental Health and additional qualifications in AOD

    • Extensive experience in the Mental Health & AOD field including acute in-patient services and/or community mental health care.

    • Proven ability in the management of patients with major mental illness and AOD use and in techniques of assessment, crisis intervention, and counselling and psychosocial rehabilitation

    • Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating innovative clinical services

    • Ability to lead and demonstrate strong leadership skills

    Please refer to salary circular for VICTORIAN PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
