    Description

    The Role

    As the APS6 ICT Security Advisor, you are responsible for ongoing advise on ICT security matters, duties include:

    • Drafting policy advice and preparing high-quality policy documents for ICT Security Branch.
    • Provide advice to the Branch's executive team on complex issues, including preparation of formal briefing and agenda papers for decision-makers.
    • Prepare quality policy advice that aligns with the Department of Defence's strategic objectives for various decision-making bodies, senior management and other decision makers.
    • Provide timely and accurate protective security and risk management advice.
    • Develop and, where applicable, monitor and report on implementation of policy and procedural outcomes to provide assurance of compliance and/or achievement.
    • Conducting research, analysing and interpreting information from various sources to inform cyber security policy considerations.
    • Collaborate with teams across the business to align security priorities with overall business goals and strategies.

    At the Directorate of ICT Security Management (DICTSM) our mission is to positively influence and strengthen the security posture of Defence ICT systems through provision of leadership, guidance, direction and, the proactive identification, analysis and remediation, or mitigation, of ICT system vulnerabilities.

    As the whole-of-Defence cyber security service provider, the Directorate of ICT Security Management provides leadership, direction, governance and management services for the Defence cybersecurity capability. DICTSM positively influences and strengthens the security posture of Defence ICT systems through the proactive identification, analysis and remediation or mitigation of ICT system vulnerabilities. DICTSM provides advice and guidance to inform risk based assessments in the development, deployment and maintenance of secure Defence ICT systems and capabilities.

    Our Ideal Candidate

    Our ideal candidate will have:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in Cyber Security.
    • Strong critical thinking skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
    • Good understanding of various cyber security frameworks and standards (ISM, PSPF, ISO 27001 etc.)
    • Understand a broad range of Cyber Security technologies to be able to provide guidance and advice
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated experience in producing clear, concise, and comprehensive materials, sometimes within short timeframes.
    • Proactive nature and ability to anticipate issues in the sector or with stakeholders to ensure success or resolve problems.
    • Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
