    Description

    Our client is currently looking for a Procurement Specialist to join their growing team within the local government sector. As a senior member within the team, this role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the success of ongoing and upcoming projects by leading the development and implementation of procurement plans and systems.

    Key responsibilities:

  • Managing end to end procurement processes and contracts for a range of council projects and programs
  • Providing sound advice on tender evaluation plans and the management of high risk and complex procurement processes
  • Building and developing relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Providing training to ensure compliance with contracts, tenders and procurement policies, procedures and systems
  • Refining and improving existing systems and procedures to ensure best practice
  • Developing and presenting reports to management to inform decision making
    Desired skills and knowledge:
  • A background in procurement, contract management, commercial finance, legal, or similar
  • Experience working in local council, government, public sector statutory authorities or corporations, utilities or similar is desired
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and engagement abilities, as well as high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • An ability and willingness to mentor others
