    The Opportunity

    The Junior Design Engineer - Signalling is responsible for the design of signalling systems and processes in accordance with project specifications and as guided or directed by the Project Engineer/Design Manager. On day-to-day activities shall report to the Design manager and work under the mentorship of the senior members of the design and project team.

    Key responsibilities include

  • Assist in the design and selection of equipment to suit the contract requirements
  • Assist in reviewing and resolving queries with the Verification Engineer regarding designs
  • Review and agree with Project Engineer design timeframes shown on design program
  • Assist in problem solving using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques or methods proposed by the National Engineering Manager
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documentation as directed by the Project Engineer/Design Engineer and/or Engineering Manager
  • Assist in the design in accordance with the Design Advice Notes issued by the Project Engineer/Design Engineer
  • Assist Testing Engineer, when necessary and as directed by the Project Engineer/ Design Engineer.
  • Requirements to be successful

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and able to obtain Acceptance by Engineers Australia or equivalent.
  • Signalling Design Fundamentals - desirable criteria.
  • Maintain levels of competency as required for the Signalling design, and Testing requirements of the projects with aim to maintain Level 1 AEO Competency
  • Member of relevant industry body such as Engineers Australia or IRSE (Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers) - desirable criteria.
