    Primary objective

    Provide efficient, accurate and compliant financial services across trusts, estates, investments and properties within a public trustee

    environment.

    Context statement

    The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) is a statutory body that safeguards the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision-making

    capacity through guardianship, trustee management and estate administration. This role requires strong financial operations expertise,

    confidentiality and a person-centred approach to service delivery. As a key member of the Finance Team, contribute to the year-end

    financial reporting and ensuring compliance, precision and delivery within tight timeframes.

    Key duties and responsibilities

    1. Deliver a high standard of client focused accounting, finance, taxation and reporting services of the Public Guardian and Trustee and

    its Common Funds.

    2. Maintain the trust accounting system (TACT) and PGTIS information system by ensuring accuracy and data integrity.

    3. Contribute to the daily financial operations, including data input, daily ledger transactions, payments, bank reconciliations, monitoring

    account balances and liaising with Trust and Estate Officers.

    4. Prepare accurate and timely reports, as part of month-end and year-end processes.

    5. Undertake operational investment functions including processing applications and redemption of funds, liaison with fund managers

    and overseeing investments activities to minimise risk.

    6. Comply with internal financial control frameworks and provide support in internal and external audits.

    7. Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of financial accounting policies, procedure and practices.

    8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary practices and role modelling behaviour.

    Selection criteria

    Essential

    1. Demonstrated experience in financial management, reporting and accountability in a regulatory environment with a high level of

    attention to detail including assisting in the preparation financial reports.

    2. Strong technical accounting knowledge with proven ability to apply accounting and financial principles, practices and standards,

    including internal controls and auditing.

    3. High level organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks, exercise flexibility and maintain performance to deliver outcomes in

    a timely manner.

    4. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of

    stakeholders.

    5. High level understanding and competence in a range of software programs including word processing, database and spreadsheets, as

    well as integrated accounting software programs such as MYOB.

    6. Proven ability to excel in team based and agile environments, contributing to shared goals and outcomes.

    Desirable

    1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, finance or a related field.

    2. Sound knowledge or ability to quickly learn trustee operations, including financial administration of trusts and estates and the

    associated legal and regulatory environment.
