    Arup
    Default job background
    Description

    Joining Arup
Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

The Queensland Highways team within our Sunshine Coast office is looking for a proactive and driven Senior Engineer with a focus on project and/or design management to own and deliver projects and bring fresh ideas to enhance the way we work. You will be required to liaise with internal and external teams to take a lead on coordination activities.

The existing team is technically strong, has a very inclusive culture, and is a great place to further develop your career. We need a new senior engineer to join us to help deliver a very strong pipeline of interesting and varied highway and major road projects across the Sunshine Coast region. Our pipeline of work will also connect you into a network of interstate and international projects, leveraging Arup's truly global business model and philosophy.

Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in applying a variety of civil engineering skills in a consulting environment, with a strong emphasis on leading the delivery of design projects covering client liaison, team organisation, quality management, programming and cost control. You should be technically strong, able to work independently and as part of a team, energised to assist with our digital transformation, driven towards better sustainable designs and motivated to help reduce effects from climate change.

    The Opportunity

    • Accountable for significant activities or projects. This will require you to be responsible for planning and communicating resource requirements.

    • Your work will involve acting in leadership roles on highway and major infrastructure projects. This will include client liaison, design management, quality management, programming, reporting and cost control.

    • Responsible for the performance and development of others. This would require you to provide guidance, training, motivation and direction to staff.

    • Involved in setting project and discipline budgets; as such you would be responsible for negotiating agreements with discipline leads, subconsultants and suppliers in order to achieve financial targets.

    • Accountable for one or more areas of technology or discipline function. Within this area you will be required to promote learning opportunities from successes and problems that arise.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

    • Recognised degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

    • Relevant industry experience in Project and/or Design Management for complex transport projects within a consulting business environment.

    • Experience with TMR and Austroads design requirements and specifications.

    • Experience delivering and leading projects for key clients, particularly the Department of Transport and Main Roads through planning and delivery stages.

    • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies (including RPEQ and Chartered Status from the Institution of Engineers Australia)
