  • About the Position
    Reporting to Manager Yurika HSE, the HSE Project Specialist works across a national portfolio of Yurika projects. Projects and programs are to comply with legislation, Energy Queensland (EQ), Yurika, client and contractual obligations in relation to HSE, risk management and mitigation actions.

    The role will enable continual improvement and contemporary risk thinking in the management and promotion of HSE strategies and initiatives

    This is a 24 month fixed term position . Salaries start from $147,000 plus 12.75% super plus site allowances where applicable. If permanent positions become available, you will have the opportunity to apply for them.

    The Role
    You will be responsible for implementation and assurance of HSE management plans and tools at a project level . You will provide onsite HSE management support to project activities, to ensure that health, safety and environmental standards are applied and adhered to in project delivery, specific to client and contractual requirements.

    Some of the accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders through
    strong customer engagement and the application of EQLs SKILLED values in all interactions to achieve Energy
    Queensland's HSE targets and strategic objectives.
  • Supports Office of Federal Safety Commission (OFSC) and International Standards Organisation (ISO)
    compliance on project portfolios.
  • Manages the compiling of SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) packages including developing project HSE plans, registers, and assisting with Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) as required for individual projects.
  • Facilitates the identification/verification of plant and equipment competencies to ensure compliance to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and calibration requirements ensuring safe operation.
  • Delivers initial project risk assessment and subsequent project/contractual Health, Safety, Environment Quality
    (HSEQ) documentation within required contractual milestones thereby facilitating and enabling project
    commencement.
  • Assists by providing HSE inputs and risk evaluation from a HSE standpoint during tender phases.
  • Attends site as required to ensure site compliance and audit against system implementation and assists sites in
    client audits and undertaking incident investigations.
  • Facilitates project specific risk workshops with the project team and/or clients, legislative and client gap analysis, training programs and management plan development including weekly reporting on the effective closeout of audit actions, incident actions, improvement opportunities and non-conformances within delegated authority.
  • Supports Yurika HSE team in the development and continual improvement of the Yurika HSE Management
    System.
  • Collaborates effectively managing information and confidentiality requirements across Energy Queensland
    Limited in accordance with applicable ring-fencing parameters.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to health, safety and environment and support a diverse and inclusive
    workplace.
  • About you
  • Proven ability in the implementation and application of WHS policies, procedures, systems, training and relevant legislation, along with the development of specific HSE systems for high-risk construction activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in power, energy or renewables industries with technical understanding of electrical systems.
  • Able to promote learning from incidents and events and challenge behaviours together with demonstrated ability to support management to promote good news stories and publicly recognise positive behaviours.
  • Convey knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to Workplace Health and Safety as well as the Electricity Supply Industry and their application to occupational health hazards and risks.
  • Highly developed project, program and excellent time management, analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritise to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying HSE improvement opportunities (including HSE safe systems of work).
  • High level of written and oral communication ability, along with well-developed interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Essentials
  • Advanced Diploma Occupational Health & Safety and/or demonstrated knowledge and experience
  • Experience in leading or participating in OHS, Environment or Quality systems
  • Experience in using Incident investigation methodologies including ICAM supported by the completion of a certified Incident Investigation course 'C' class drivers licence.
