    San Clemente High School Mayfield is seeking a Permanent Part Time (30 hours per week) Laboratory Assistant to join the team from Term 2, 2024.

    San Clemente – A Catholic school in the Dominican tradition. Preparing to include Stage 6 from 2026.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Laboratory Assistant is directly responsible to the Leader of Learning Science and works in collaboration with Science Teachers to ensure materials are prepared safely and in a timely manner for the delivery of the Science curriculum, and that resources and facilities are well maintained. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the ordering of equipment and may be involved directly with timetabled classes (including excursions when appropriate).

    EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

    • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate with school staff, students and the community
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain the school science laboratories and general science equipment in clean and workable order for science classes, organising repairs as necessary
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe working environment
    • Experience in preparation of laboratory solutions and handling, storage and disposal of chemicals in compliance with regulations
    • Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to organise, prioritise and multitask to meet various deadlines

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Postgraduate laboratory/scientific qualifications or equivalent
    • Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
    • Completion of anaphylaxis training

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
