Media Manager opportunity
- Approx. $80-$85 per hour plus Super dependent on experience
- Assignment duration is up to 6-8 weeks. April Start
- Melbourne CBD location/Hybrid Arrangement
About the role
Our client, a government agency, requires an experienced Media Manager to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 6-8 weeks based in Melbourne CBD. As the Media Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the development of long-term proactive and reactive media strategies and integrating these strategies with broader organisational objectives.
You will also lead a small team in contributing to efforts to increase community understanding of the work undertaken by the agency.
Key Accountabilities
Key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Setting media and public affairs strategy, representing the organisation in significant engagements and develop collaborative partnerships
- Guiding the development of long-term media relations and public affairs strategies
- Overseeing the integration of proactive and media strategies with broader organisational objectives
- Providing leadership guidance to a small team of media officers responding to complex daily media enquiries and issues in a challenging, high-volume work and operating environment.
- Providing high-quality advice to senior leaders in relation to media engagement strategies and issues management
- Producing executive communication materials such as presentations, speeches, briefs and reports to support senior leaders
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and skills that you will need to demonstrate include:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in developing and executing complex media engagement strategies with prior Victoria media management/public relations experience
- Demonstrated proactive and reactive media management skills, including preparation of spokesperson briefing and support materials
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts and stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in crisis communications
- Highly creative with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Media, Communications, Public Relations or related field, or relevant experience in media and or communications

- The pay rate offered is inclusive of 25% casual loading
