    About the Role

    This is a Senior Engineering position and will focus on safely and sustainably maximising asset value in the 3 to 18 month coal planning space with key deliverables to inform the budget and provide direction to the execution teams around the short and medium-term plan for the Goonyella Complex. You will have a Senior Scheduler whom you will work closely with to continuously drive team development, value generation and support our operations teams to deliver on executable plans.

    The role reports to the Superintendent Mine Planning and you will be engaged in delivering executable coal mining plans, optimised coal blending plans and lead a team of direct reports to achieve core routines.

    • Bring a passion towards site safety;
    • Safely and sustainable maximise asset value;
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to the short term coal planners in best practice;
    • Provide governance over plan inputs to ensure plan feasibility;
    • Deliver executable 12-Month Coal Plans and Coal Blends;
    • Work closely with external stakeholders (Tactical Planning, Marketing, Integrated Operations and site Operations) to understand key value drivers in any given planning horizon and embed in optimised mine plans;
    • Deliver the first year of the 2YR budget for coal with support from multiple stakeholders; and
    • Leverage experience and capability to drive and implement Mine Planning Improvement initiatives.

    Location and Roster:

    • The role offers a 5/2 or 4/3 roster pattern with flexibility by agreement.
    • Note however that being a site based role the expectation is site presence.

    About You

    About you

    As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education in Mining Engineering with previous experience working at an operations level. Your demonstrated experience working in mine planning teams particularly planning and scheduling for Truck-Shovel and Dragline mines will see you succeed in this role.

    As well as your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and able to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of design and blending tools (Deswik/Vulcan) as well as coal blending experience will provide an adequate foundation for the role.

    You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results. You will be willing to learn and work in a diverse, fast paced and highly motivated team.

    Coaching and mentoring will form a key part in this role as well owing to your position being recognised as the subject matter expert for this process.
