    Head of Department - Junior Secondary

    Join a vibrant and high-performing school just 10 minutes from Brisbane's city centre.

    We are seeking a dynamic and motivated leader to join Mount Gravatt State High School as our Head of Department - Junior Secondary, commencing Term 3. This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 12 months unless otherwise determined.

    About the Role:

    • Strengthen Junior Secondary identity and belonging for Year 7-8 students as they begin high school.
    • Coordinate Junior Secondary leadership opportunities and support Student Mentors across year levels.
    • Drive strategic and innovative approaches to curriculum, pedagogy, staff development, and continuous improvement.
    • Lead the development, implementation, and review of the school's explicit improvement agenda.
    • Build staff capability through a problem-of-practice approach to improvement, collaborative empowerment through faculty-based professional learning teams, coaching, mentoring.
    • Foster a growth mindset by creating a low-risk, high-challenge environment that encourages innovation and improvement.
    • Proven ability to lead collaborative staff practice and contribute effectively to team environments.
