- Lead a team of advisors and technicians to deliver the site environmental and monitoring programs, license, and reporting requirements
- Providing strategic input and driving action plans to manage key environment risks and opportunities
- Implementation and verification of the business' environmental management systems
- Developing and implementing site wide environment projects and initiatives
- Undertaking assurance activities to meet compliance and business standard requirements across operational and closure projects
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders providing specialist environmental advice that addresses current and anticipated future risks for operations, studies, and project execution.
- Coordinate a range of environmental activities across multiple work fronts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A Bachelor's degree in an Environmental or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to the control of environment related risks, legal compliance requirements and environmental management systems
- Experience partnering with teams to provide technical support and drive performance
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross functional team
- Ability to work autonomously and independently under pressure, with reliability and accuracy

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Environment Superintendent to support the Yarwun site. Within this role, you will use your technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with internal and government stakeholders to deliver positive environmental outcomes for our operations.

Where you'll be working
Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.
As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.
With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
