Our client is a proudly Australian business with a history spanning over 100 years supporting Food & Liquor retailers with a market leading product range and access to one of the largest distribution networks in the country. As part of their strategic vision and investment into their supply chain and distribution network, they have a National Transport Operations Manager - Secondary Freight role available to join their team in Sydney.

The National Transport Operations Manager - Secondary Freight role reports to the Head of Logistics and will lead a team of four people with accountability for high volume secondary freight servicing a national store network. This role will work with a large 3PL supplier base, and key internal stakeholders both state-based and nationally to deliver a customer focused, cost effective, safe, integrated and optimised national transport network. A key focus on of the role will be creating a 5-year strategy to deliver a future-proofed, scalable and market leading operation, as well as developing a continuous improvement program, utilising technology and building people capability and future talent supply chain talent for the business. We are looking for an established National Transport Manager or Head of Transport from a large volume logistics and distribution background, retail and/or 3PL/4PL side. You will be able to demonstrate your expertise and achievements in running a high performing national transport operation, successfully building strong working partnerships with 3PL/4PL partners, designing and implementing transport models, implementing technology solutions. manage a multi-million dollar OPEX budget and cost managment responsibilities, and be able to drive change management and work cross functionally, and engage with people at all levels, to deliver the best outcomes for the transport operations, the business and your end customers. Most importantly will be a a hands-on, directive and motivational leader, team player, curious and detailed-orientated, who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced and transformational environment who deals well with ambiguity and autonomy in their role, and can find the right balance of being hands-on, operational, commercial and strategic.
