    Full Engineering PhD Scholarship Opportunity in Hydrogen Storage

    We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled engineer to join our research team at Rux Energy. This project is part of the CRC-P16 Industry Project with Rux Energy, a partnership between Rux Energy, USYD, and New Frontiers Technology (NFT).

    H2 storage technologies currently rely on high-pressure compression or cryogenic liquefaction, which are energy-intensive, costly, and pose significant safety risks. Our breakthrough hydrogen storage solution based on patented nanoporous materials addresses this challenge by commercialising a novel cryocompressed composite hydrogen storage system.

    This project is a multi-disciplinary effort between scientists and engineers. As a PhD student, you will build a multidisciplinary set of skills which may include:

    • Model-based systems engineering/architecting
    • Experience with digital twin/computational modeling
    • Multi-disciplinary collaboration between scientists and engineers in industry and academia

    Suitable candidates will have a background in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace, materials, industrial or structural engineering, or related disciplines. Experience with systems engineering and/or a strong desire to learn is highly recommended.

    You will receive immersive support from academic supervisors and industry leaders. If you are passionate about research and like seeing your ideas become reality, then this project is perfect for you.

    Requirements:

    • International and domestic students
    • Female candidates are encouraged to apply
    • Relocate to Sydney (if applicable) and commence full-time PhD asap
    • Holding or close to have first class Honours/Master's or equivalent degrees
    • Having had at least an overall undergraduate mark of 80 (scale of 100) or equivalent
    • Having degrees or track records in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace, materials, industrial or structural engineering or related disciplines
    • Experience with systems engineering, digital twin and/or a strong desire to learn is highly recommended
