    About The Role

    Thiess is seeking a Purchasing Officer to join our Australian Operations Procurement team, based from our Head Office in South Bank, Brisbane. The role of the Purchasing Officer ensuresthe smooth procurement of materials, parts, and equipment necessary for operations. This entails sourcing alternative suppliers when required and guaranteeing adherence to national contract regulations. Additionally, you will engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a seamless procurement process from start to finish.

    Additionally, you will:

    Regularly liaise with operations staff in relation to purchasing requests

    Maintain up-to date knowledge of items available via catalogues, under contract or panel agreements.

    Investigate and develop supply sources and obtain quotations for spot purchase.

    Undertake purchase materials, equipment, goods or services as required by the business in a timely and efficient manner.

    Ensure accurate purchasing records are maintained.

    Regularly liaise with suppliers to ensure a clear understanding of customer specifications.

    Negotiate term and conditions for spot purchases, ensuring favourable outcomes are achieved in term of costs, timelines and efficiency.

    Ensure compliance with existing contracts – pricing and availability.

    Expedite orders.

    APWF – investigate and resolve supplier invoice issues, to enable payment terms and conditions are adhered to.

    About You

    Your seamless communication, both verbal and written, adds finesse to the flow of ideas and information. You will elevate stakeholder experience through exceptional service and take the initiative to drive collaboration in a diverse team environment. You will uphold unwavering integrity and contribute to a culture of trust.

    Additionally, you have:

    2-5+ years purchasing experience, within mining or similar heavy industry

    Strong customer focus and build effective relationships

    Attention to detail in a time-critical environment

    Strong ability to multitask and prioritise work

    JDE Experience preferred
