    Role Overview

    The Lead Legal Counsel is the primary in-house lawyer at Women's, offering legal counsel to the Chief Executive, Board, and Executive Team. This role, under the Office of the CEO, holds a vital position in the Executive Team.

    Responsibilities entail legal risk management, ensuring compliance, and guiding staff on legal matters.

    In addition, the incumbent will:

    • Contribute to overall leadership and management
    • Support strategic objectives
    • Align service directions with hospital operations
    • Provide commercial advice in line with Women's principles
    • Stay abreast of legal changes and advise accordingly
    • Monitor health legislation and governance
    • Attend Board meetings and oversee legal matters
    • Manage external providers and medico-legal issues
    • Ensure departmental financial accountability
    • Advise on procurement probity matters
    • Contribute to policy development and maintenance

    About You

    We are looking for commercially savvy lawyers with a minimum of 9 years in health legal practice or related field. Apart from legal expertise, you should possess strong interpersonal skills, team leadership abilities, and a dedication to customer service. Interacting with various stakeholders demands influencing skills, benefiting the business across all levels.
