We are seeking a highly motivated skilled Engineer who displays both initiative and judgement, interpreting policy and procedures. The role is responsible for conducting a wide range of governance functions for the airworthiness of the C-27J and C-130J platforms, working with Australian Public Servants, Australian Defence Force members, Contractors and Industry Partners to strategise and address risks.

The EL1 Deputy Chief Engineer will work within the enterprises to:

• Manage the engineering governance team and assurance practitioners.
• Steward Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) principles and requirements.
• Manage and facilitate stakeholder relationships.
• Provide oversight of engineering capability to ensure the system is fit for purpose.
• Analyse aircraft engineering capability for decisions and actions.
• Drive innovative and effective engineering outcomes to support delivery of sustainment outcomes.

About our Team

The Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) is a business unit within the Airlift and Tanker Systems (ATS) branch of the Aerospace Systems Division (ASD) within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). ALSPO is the in-service support agency responsible for sustaining and enhancing the RAAF's C-130J Hercules and C-27J Spartan aircraft. ALSPO, in partnership with industry, exists to support Air Mobility Group achieve its mission by providing effective sustainment support solutions.

The team is located proudly in Greater Western Sydney at RAAF Base Richmond, an hour west of Sydney and at the foot of the beautiful Blue Mountains. The Base has a full size gymnasium, tennis & squash courts, swimming pool and cinema, which is accessible to all while working at RAAF Base Richmond.

• Skills and experience in engineering systems, ideally with Aerospace Engineering experience.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting priorities and compressed timelines.
