    About the Role

    Reporting to the Supervisor Locomotive Overhaul, you will be working in the Locomotive Overhaul Shop in Port Hedland. This role will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, repairing and overhauling the SD70 Ace locomotives.

    Some of your duties will include:

    • Routine servicing (6 months, 12 months, 2 years), overhaul (14k, 28k, combo and bogie change out) and planned repair work
    • Execute the maintenance plan for the week, with an aim to execute work to the day
    • Ensure maintenance is executed in a manner that maximises locomotive availability while following work instructions, escalating any issues and ensuring quality is maintained to avoid re-work
    • Raise notifications for repairs and capture all relevant work history in notifications
    • Execute maintenance in line with the company and OEM requirements
    • Proactively looking to find efficiencies on planned tasks whilst maintaining or improving safety standards
    • Actively participating in defect elimination
    • Actively seek to improve safety standards within the workplace

    Location / Roster:

    This role can be FIFO or Residential, its based in Port Hedland, Western Australia on a 4 days on, 4 nights on, 8 days off roster. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

    About You

    As the successful candidate, you will possess:

    • Australian Recognised Mechanical Qualifications
    • Locomotive maintenance experience including overhauls, troubleshooting, repairs, installs, inspections highly regarded
    • Demonstrated diagnostics and breakdown experience
    • Understanding of railway operations preferred
    • Current WA Drivers Licence
    • Dogging, Rigging and Forklift Licenses are desirable
    • A commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure
    • Computer literacy and/or experience in 1SAP
    • Safety first mentality
