    National Seniors Australia is the leading not-for-profit organisation, providing a voice for older Australians. We seek to influence government policy and work for better outcomes in areas relating to health and aged care.

    We are looking for strong candidates to fill the full-time role of Senior Policy Officer based in Brisbane or Canberra depending on the preferred applicant, focusing on health and aged care.

    On a day-to-day basis you will:

    • Assist our Director of Policy and Research to develop policy positions relating to health and aged care
    • Participate in consultations and meetings relating to aged care reform with government and other relevant stakeholders
    • Liaise with government, bureaucracy, business and other community organisations
    • Prepare and present detailed policy papers, reports, briefings, submissions, articles and website content
    • Facilitate older Australians' input into government policies and programs to ensure they reflect the diversity of need in the community

    We are seeking someone with:

    • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated strong understanding of national political process
    • Understanding of the issues affecting older Australians
    • Experience in a similar environment or position

    What we offer you

    • Competitive salary – circa $120,000 per annum
