    GAZ - APS- ACT/NSW/QLD/NT/SA/VIC/WA - Commanding Officer (Thaiyak/Bay class)

    Position Summary
    The Commanding Officer (CO) (Thaiyak/Bay class) is required to manage:
    The vessel, crew, and passengers/transportees

    The navigational requirements of the vessel, including navigational watch officers, and all of the charts and publications, as required for the safe navigation of the vessel.

    This includes overseeing the development and execution of passage plans
    In-port operations
    The logistical requirements of the vessel, which involves developing and maintaining relationships with key external clients

    Vessel operations during in service support/maintenance periods and crew handover periods, which includes developing and adhering to timelines, and negotiating with key stake holders in order to achieve outcomes.

    The CO has the overriding authority to direct the tactical affairs of the vessel and to take whatever action is necessary to ensure the safety of the vessel, the safety of the officers and other personnel on-board the vessel, and for protection of the environment through the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS).

    The CO is responsible for leading, instructing, motivating and supervising subordinate officers in the performance of their tasks.
    Mandatory Qualifications
    MasterGlobal Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) General Operators Certificate Course (AMSA approved), meeting the requirements of STCW Reg IV/2 and Code Section A-IV/2, Table A-IV/2;
    Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) General Operator (AMSA approved), meeting the requirements of STCW Reg II/1 & II/2 and Code Sections A-II/1 & A-II/2, Tables A-II/1 & A-II/2;

    The following First Aid Courses:
    HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
