    The Opportunity

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead neuroimaging and translational studies for the NHMRC Investigator Grant "Decoding the Drivers of Food Choice towards Sustainable Self-Management of Obesity." This grant aims to enhance our understanding of the neural and computational factors influencing unhealthy food choices in the modern environment and their role in obesity and eating disorders.

This position will involve planning and conducting new research projects using advanced tools (e.g., food choice and pharmaco fMRI, transcranial magnetic stimulation), analysing neuroimaging and cognitive data, attending national and international research-related meetings and contributing to publications.

The selected candidate will work within the "Addiction and Impulsivity Research (AIR) lab" ), which hosts a diverse research community including basic, clinical and industry-focused fellows and students. Our research is highly applied by using mechanistic studies to inform intervention development and implementation. Thus, the position will provide ample opportunities for clinical translation and generation of impact- and value-based outcomes.

We require a candidate with a doctoral qualification in Psychology, Neuroscience or a related field and experience conducting research involving human participants. Proficiency in neuroimaging design and analysis, with special interest in functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), is essential. Advanced coding skills in MATLAB and/or R and computational modelling skills are also highly desirable.

If this sounds like a position that suits your current career focus we look forward to hearing from you.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.
