    The Australian Airports Association ('AAA') is the national voice that represents the interests of more than 340 airports and aerodromes Australia wide – from the local country community landing strip to major international gateway airports. Our Airport members represent vital infrastructure crucial to the communities in which they operate and for the overall national economy.

    The AAA facilitates co-operation among airport members and their many and varied partners in Australian aviation, whilst contributing to an air transport system that is safe, secure, competitive and environmentally sustainable for the benefit of all Australians and visitors.

    The AAA is the leading advocate for appropriate national policy relating to airport activities, to ensure regular transport passengers, freight, and the community enjoy the full benefits of a progressive and sustainable airport industry. With the support of airports and the industry's leading organisations the AAA will continue working to secure the future of our airports.

    The AAA also has more than 150 corporate members representing aviation stakeholders and organisations that provide goods and services to the airport sector.

    OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

    The Digital and Communications Manager positionis a hands-on role supporting and amplifying a range of significant AAA initiatives across the year including major industry events, government submissions and member engagement activities. This role is initially for 12 months to fill a maternity leave cover. This role sits within the "Engaged Members" pillar of the AAA's Strategic Plan and reports directly to the Director – Member Engagement.

    The Digital and Communications Manager is responsible for end-to-end delivery on the digital design and marketing communications of the AAA. While the role requires a level of autonomy, a collaborative approach with the Policy and Advocacy, Member Engagement and Corporate Services teams is required to ensure clear, cut-through communication and marketing aligned with the AAA's strategic objectives.

    The Digital and Communications Manager will be accountable for the following day-to-day and strategic areas of work (non-exhaustive):

    Graphic/ Digital Design:

    • Deliver on all aspects of digital design for a range of high-quality marketing outputs including printed collateral, social media content, video production, graphic design (posters, flyers, email signatures, policy submissions, infographics, event signage programs, signage, etc).

    Social Media

    • Manage the AAA's social media channels including creating and scheduling content, monitoring and engaging with posts, and reporting and assessment of social channel analytics.

    Website

    • Manage and maintain the AAA's main and other associated websites (including MyAirportCareer) including copywriting, content creation, digital design and reporting of website analytics.

    EDMs and Digital Newsletters

    • Manage and circulate and evaluate the AAA's weekly newsletter – Airport Alert (including editorial and graphic design) and regular e-newsletters to AAA Members.

    Communications Collateral

    • Deliver communications and marketing collateral, primarily targeted towards member communications including creating press releases, talking points, proof reading and copy editing, etc.

    The role requires an experienced and enthusiastic multi-tasker with exceptional writing skills and a keen eye for digital design. You enjoy a level of autonomy, take pride in your work, and have a creative, strategic mindset to enhance and effectively communicate work of the AAA to our members and stakeholders.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage and maintain all aspects of AAA's digital channels including web, social media, EDMs and event collateral (copywriting, editing and graphic design)
    • Supported by the Director – Member Engagement, establish and implement a holistic and proactive Digital Communications Strategy underpinned by AAA's strategic objectives
    • Collaborate with AAA staff to facilitate effective communication and development of communication activities and outputs
    • Create and implement discrete marketing plans and reporting processes for major AAA events to drive attendance and promote sponsorship opportunities
    • Assist with monitoring daily media coverage
    • Proof-read and copy editing of external materials to ensure correct grammar and key messaging
    • Provide regular communications summaries to Director and COO
    • Provide event management support as a backup to the member engagement / communications team.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

    • Exceptional written communication skills including proofing and editing
    • Experience in end-to-end digital / graphic design for various collateral, materials and digital outputs
    • A deep understanding and demonstrated ability to assess back-end analytics across social and digital channels
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills, including balancing and managing competing priorities
    • A positive and collaborative attitude, with an appreciation of the importance to deliver to shared organisational goals
    • Experience using InDesign
    • Experience using WordPress
    • A relevant tertiary degree or equivalent work experience is mandatory (tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Engagement or relevant field is highly desired).
