    How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne...

    The Finance, Rates and Investment Branch provides financial leadership and stewardship for Council, and is a key enabler of the financial and statutory accounts as well as taxation, financial risk management, investments and analysis, and finance business partnering.

    In close collaboration with the Senior Business Partner, this role is critical as the main link between the Finance, Rates and Investment branch and the broader organisational operations. It will deliver top-tier financial analysis, advice, and support to aid in management decision-making processes.

    The position will play a key role in initiating and supporting improvement and considerable change in the capacity of business partner and finance professional.

    What you will bring...

    In addition, the position will require:

    • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline and significant experience. CPA/CA qualified is desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial analysis and financial reporting with the ability to exemplify financial management best practice.
    • Proven skills and experience in developing and maintaining effective partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, particularly in the provision of professional financial advice and support to Managers and staff with limited financial training.
    • Proven project management skills, including the ability to lead complex projects.
    • Sound analytical and conceptual thinking capability and ability to make recommendations to resolve issues.
    • High level organisational and time management skills and proven ability to work in a pressure sustained environment.
    • Highly developed computer proficiency, preferably in Microsoft Word, Excel and Financial Systems.
