    As an emergency service agency, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is dedicated to ensuring the safety of individuals and properties throughout Queensland by engaging in effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities across various emergency situations. Consisting of the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, QFES also backs up other volunteer groups that offer emergency response services to Queenslanders. QFES stands as a unified entity with numerous services, capabilities, and partnerships.

    Purpose of the Role

    The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services execute distinctive functions. It stands as the sole organization in Australia that provides top-notch fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a singular agency. This collaborative strategy across the service and with essential stakeholders ensures enhanced safety outcomes for the community.

    Key Requirements

    Mandatory Requirements

    • Employers written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
    • Reside or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station
    • Australian Permanent Resident Status
    • Manual C Class driver's licence
    The QFES anticipates all auxiliary firefighters to commit to specific duties throughout their employment, such as attending emergency calls, regular drills, obtaining additional licenses, and engaging in skills enhancement programs.

    Your key accountabilities

    • Responding to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team
    • Promoting community safety and emergency preparedness through participation in education activities
    • Maintaining competencies by actively engaging in drills and training sessions
    • Operating firefighting and rescue equipment proficiently
    • Contributing to station facilities management and equipment maintenance
    • Partaking in incident reporting and general station administration
