    : Applications are sought to fill the position of Director and Deputy Registrar at ACT Courts and Tribunal.

    Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Director and Deputy Registrar will provide high quality support to the Magistrates Court and the judiciary by exercising statutory powers of a Registrar of the court and providing legal, policy and procedural advice.

    The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven ability to provide legal and policy advice and perform legal research;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction and support to ACT Courts registry staff in the law and practice relevant to the operations of the court;
  • Proven understanding and knowledge of relevant ACT and Commonwealth legislation and other relevant statutory provisions;
  • Well-developed oral and written communication including inter-personal and negotiation skills; and
  • Demonstrated self-management and leadership skills and the ability to lead a high performing team.
  • Eligibility/Other requirements: This position requires you to have completed a degree in laws of an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification as well admission as a practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Criminal History check.

    Notes: A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
